About LOCUS

The Story

I’ve been inspired by the multitude of food documentaries and chefs who have taken pains to ensure that their food is sustainably sourced. Aside from selecting “organic” in the aisles of my supermarket, what else can I do? I would like to know where my food really comes from, who grows it, and how it is grown — to see if an alternative where self-sustaining permaculture is possible; to map this ecosystem of feeding, and to know what really goes into the food ecosystem. Coming back home and finding different ways I can get my food (a wet market, supermarket, by growing things, a convenience store) and finding slight variations in pricing has led me to question why and how things are differently valued and many more questions I hope I can begin to explore through this project — Locus.
